Jeff Golden is a former Fulbright scholar in "Sustainable Development Studies" and has presented twice at international symposiums on "The Environment and International Security" and "The Militarization of the Third World". He has five years teaching experince in inner-city schools in South-Central Los Angeles and San Francisco, including San Francisco's first start-up charter school, Leadership High. He has lived and traveled throughout Latin America and China and speaks Spanish, functional Chinese, and is studying Arabic.

Kevin Chambers, age 23, is a native of Los Angeles and graduated with a BS in Communications from the University of Southern California. While there he was awarded the Maxine Waters Academic Achievement Resolution Award and started an online publication to unify the racial diverse student population. In 1994 he was among the first group of students selected to travel to Seoul, Korea as American Ambassadors in a cultural exchange program to better race relations between African-Americans and Korean-Americans. Stephanie Elizondo Griest, age 26, graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a BJ in journalism and a BA in post-Soviet studies from the University of Texas at Austin. A Chicana from South Texas, she has written for dozens of publications including the New York Times and the Washington Post, has studied in Moscow and taught journalism in Beijing on a Henry Luce Scholarship. She speaks Russian, Mandarin and Spanish and is currently writing a book about her travels across the communist bloc. Neda Farzan, 22 years old, recently graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University with a BA in Human Biology with a concentration in children’s health policy. She has interned with the U.S. Congress House Subcommittee on Africa and the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning & Evaluation at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She is fluent in Farsi and French. She has diverse experience working with youth as a high school teacher, mentor, and child advocate. Rebecca Kroll at age 24 has just finished two years teaching fifth grade in Long Beach, California with Teach for America. She has worked to motivate at-risk youth through The Resurrection Project and College Bound and received a $1,500 IBJ Global Vision Grant for her fifth grade classroom. She has traveled around the world, including time with Semester at Sea and the Earthwatch Institute. She is also an accomplished photographer and an avid rock climber. Teddy Miller, a self-titled "Altruistic Journalist Adventurer", is also a 21 year-old undergrad at Berkeley. He has spent most of his natural life in Berkeley, CA. He attended a French/American bilingual school, the infamous Berkeley High, and now studies history and economics at the University. His travels have brought him around the world with stays in 23 countries. He has met figures as diverse as Fidel Castro to Robert MacNamera to Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi. His future plans are to go to law school and fight for social justice at home and abroad. Whenever he is home Teddy enjoys debates with his 95-year old grandmother "Moo" and walks with his beloved Airedale "Arthur". Irene Lin, 24 years old, graduated from Amherst College with a BA in American Studies. She spent one year volunteering as a reporter and trade policy research assistant in Harare, Zimbabwe. She has interned at the Center for Public Integrity, People Magazine, Washington Week in Review and A. Magazine. She was awarded the New York Times James Reston Portfolio Award for non-fiction writing. Daphne Sorensen, 24 years old, is a self proclaimed "citizen of the world" - a Brazilian with an American accent and a British sense of humor who likes to dance merengue. She has worked on development projects in Brazil and Africa, including organizing the 1998 AIDS Walk in Uganda. She holds a BA in International Studies and Economics from American University in Washington and speaks Portuguese, Spanish, English and French. Nick Tilsen, 18 years old, is a tribal member of the Oglala Lakaota Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and an environmental activist. He has participated in grassroots campaigns for such organizations as Honor The Earth, Eyak Preservation Fund and Farm Aid, and has been active in seeking justice for imprisoned Native American activist, Leonard Peltier. He works seasonally as a commercial fisherman in Alaska and is an avid hockey player.
