VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
We have volunteers helping us in many capacities all over the US and the world. These include support in the areas of PR, development, strategic partnerships, Website and curriculum development, and others. Please write us at wordltrek@hotmail.com if you can help.


INTERNSHIPS

Project Coordinator - Part-time and full-time internships available (unpaid)
3 month commitment necessary
To begin in February followed by another in June, etc.

This is a unique opportunity to learn the ins and outs of all aspects of successful non-profit management in an exciting, fast-paced environment. You will work closely with the Founder to help manage the many facets of The Odyssey's day-to-day operations and to strengthen the program and broaden its impact. You will share in changing responsibilities, including work in the following areas: logistics, PR, teacher support, development, strategic partnerships, scheduling and events, speaking/presentations, computer and office work. You will also interact with many amazing people committed to helping create positive change in the world in many ways.

Requirements:
Able to work independently or as part of a team
Responsible and organized
Able to be flexible and take initiative
Willing to share in routine administrative tasks
Literate in basic computer skills
English proficient
Must work out of The Odyssey office

A background in teaching or education, or US History is a plus but by no means a requirement.


Educational Content Editor - Part-time internships available (unpaid)
3 month commitment necessary, 4 months or more preferable

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the content the students will experience. The Odyssey has a team of about 15 editors who do advance research and edit and manage content submitted from the Trek Team Members. These positions are ideal for people with experience or an interest in domestic travel and history, or editing or teaching. The time commitment is for 3-4 hours either Monday evening (a couple daytime positions available Monday and Tuesday) or Thursday evening (a couple daytime positions available Thursday and Friday), or both.


Web Intern - Part-time internships available (unpaid)
3 month commitment necessary, 4 months or more preferable

This is a unique opportunity to gain experience maintaining the website of an innovative, high-profile Web-based program. You can sharpen your coding and graphics skills working with an exciting and meaningful venture. The Odyssey has about 15 interns that help to format and code up primarily the photo and text portion of The Odyssey updates. You will be supported by the Web Director who will help you refine and broaden your skills. The time commitment is for 4-5 hours either Tuesday evening or Saturday morning, or both.


Administrative Assistant - Part-time internship available (unpaid)
6 week commitment necessary, 3 months or more preferable

In this position you will work in the Odyssey office helping take care of the nuts and bolts of our central operations. Includes helping manage the phones, e-mail, mail, and faxes, maintaining our database, word processing, helping with mailings, and supporting teacher outreach. This is a good opportunity for someone looking to get some solid administrative experience in a business environment. The time commitment is for minimum 3 hours/day 5 days/wk.
